Christmas drama! Man attacking police shot in Northern Budapest district
A police officer shot a man who had stabbed his patrol partner in northern Budapest’s 4th district on Thursday, police.hu reported.
The two officers had been called to a condominium with a noisy and aggressive man in the stairway. It is believed that the man did not live in the house where he was screaming and kicked the doors of several flats, he only went to someone who did not let him in.
When the police arrived the man attacked one of them and stabbed him with a knife several times.
In defense of his partner’s life, the other police officer shot the attacker, who died at the scene, while the injured officer was rushed to hospital.
According to Origo, the life of the officer is in danger, he is believed to be undergoing life-saving surgery in these minutes.
Kristóf Gál, the spokesman of ORFK, said at a short press conference that the attacker was a 35-year-old man from Délegyháza, who was shot by a young 23-year-old policewoman.
The policewoman saved her partner’s life, said Kristóf Gál.
